“Tori no Ichi” festival at Kotohira-otori shrine

The season for festivals called "Otori sai" or "Tori no Ichi" has come again this year. The festivals are held every November. In the festivals many Kumade (rakes) are sold, which are considered a lucky charm.

“Tori no Ichi” festival at Kotohira-otori shrine is famous in Yokohama, a port city near Tokyo. Kotohira-otori shrine is located in Kangai / Isezaki district of Yokohama. Though the shrine is small, there are a lot of stalls around the shrine and it gets very lively. Yokohamabashi Shopping District, one of the biggest shopping street in Yokohama is also located near the shrine and crowded with many visitors. Kumade (rakes) are sold along Odori Park. You can see Kumade (rakes) of variable sizes there.
