Hi, I’m Yuta. I grew up and live in Yokohama, a port city of Kanagawa prefecture near Tokyo. I once lived in Kichijoji, located in the western part of Tokyo. I love walking around a street and taking pictures. On my article I introduce attractions mainly of Tokyo and Yokohama with many wonderful pictures. Please enjoy them!

Yokohama is one of the must-see places in Japan! Since the opening of Yokohama port in 1859, people from all over the world have visited Japan through Yokohama. Yokohama is sometimes known as "the front entrance to Japan" and as a result of the influx of various people and cultures, it has transformed into a very unique place over the years. There are still many picturesque townscapes even though it has turned into quite an urban city. You can enjoy various sights and attractions such as the view of Yokohama port, the skyscrapers of Minatomirai, Sankeien Garden (a Japanese garden), Chinatown, Western-style houses in Yamate and Western-style buildings in Kannai.“HUG!” is a photography service that can provide you with an everlasting memory of your visit. You can choose to take a wedding picture, family picture or movie in Yokohama. The services are provided by Life Documentary Inc. Their staff are trained in English and Chinese so even if you can't speak Japanese there will be no problem! HUG! is great in that, you can decide where and how to take the pictures step by step; each couple or group can create their own personalized pictures. They have three basic plans according to the amount of time you would like to spend and the number of locations you would like to go. All of their plans include the basic photography service, costumes, hair set, all photography data and an option to create a making video. You have 2 hours at each location so you can take as many pictures/movies as you want without worrying about the time! Why not take a commemorative photograph in beautiful Yokohama? Here are some great locations to take photographs as well as some sample photographs.
Western-style house in Yamate
Yamate was once a foreign settlement and many western-style houses still remain there today. Among them, the "Diplomat’s House" is particularly popular. The private atmosphere of the western-style garden sitting on top of Yamate Hill along with the historic western-style house would make for a great picture! You can take photos of the inside the house and outdoors as well!
Yamashita Park
Yamashita Park faces Yokohama Port and is one of the representative sightseeing spots in Yokohama. There are lots of great spots for photographers because the park has so many features. A lush grass field, trees, a quiet townscape and the sea are some worth mentioning. There are so many different spots that it's hard to believe that you're in the same park at times.
Yokohama Chinatown
Yokohama Chinatown is one of the largest chinatowns in the world. It's an energetic and exotic place full of vivid colors such as red and gold. The crowded atmosphere along with the picturesque back street would make for a great photo!
Yokohama World Porters
Yokohama World Porters is a commercial facility in Minatomirai with a fantastic, up-close view of the great Ferris wheel. I recommend checking out the view from the entrance or the roof of the building at night! It's a spectacular sight!
Grand Mall Park
Grand Mall Park is a park in Minatomirai. The surrounding modern buildings give a vibe of "modern Yokohama" and it complements the open park in a unique way. It is one of the most popular date spots in Japan. If you wanted to, you can take a commemorative photograph by renting a dress in the park.
Osanbashi Pier
Osanbashi Pier is an international passenger terminal found at the heart of Yokohama Port. You can enjoy the Minatomirai townscape, notably the Landmark Tower and the Ferris Wheel , during the day or night from the open roof. It is a popular spot for photography because of the dynamic and unobstructed view of the surrounding sights.
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse
The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a commercial facility originally used as a Customs warehouse. It is one of the largest red brick buildings in Japan, as well as a symbol of Yokohama. The retro vibe of the red brick warehouse, in contrast with the very urban background is a great sight to see!
Yokohama Sankeien Garden
Yokohama Sankeien Garden is a large Japanese garden with many historical buildings that have been moved from Kyoto and Kamakura. The place beautifully transforms along with the seasons providing a fresh new experience every single time. A western-style dress would look very natural in the atmosphere of this particular Japanese garden.
Yokohama Creativecity Center
Yokohama Creativecity Center is a base of art activities in Yokohama and also happens to be the former location of Daiichi Bank's Yokohama branch. The high ceiling, the balcony and the columns made of stone are tasteful and classy.
In Yokohama there are so many picturesque places for you to enjoy and take photos to commemorate your visit. I recommend trying out HUG! when you visit Japan !
