The main street

Ueno Park is a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing. The highlights are the main street from Kiyomizu Kannondo Hall to the Tokyo National Museum, and Shinobazu Pond and Ueno Toshogu Shrine. The main street is 300 meters long and lined with cherry trees. The scenery in the street is overwhelming. You won't be able to enjoy as many cherry blossoms in other streets of Tokyo. Around Shinobazu Pond, the pond and Bentendo Hall are beautiful with cherry blossoms. Cherry trees on the west bank are also recommendable. In Ueno Toshogu Shrine you can enjoy beautiful combination of cherry blossoms and buildings built in the Edo period (1603 - 1868) such as the main hall, torii (the gateway) and the former five-storied pagoda of Kaneiji Temple you can see from the shrine. Thus, in Ueno Park you can enjoy cherry blossoms in various ways.
