I went to see Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori last Saturday.
Awa Odori is traditional Japanese dance in Tokushima prefecture, Japan. Awa Odori dancers dance to lively music, so it is exciting to watch the dance.
Tokyo Koenji Awa Odori started as an event of a shopping street in Koenji, Tokyo in 1957 and has held every year in late August. Now over 10,000 people dance and over a million people come to see the dances in this event. This event has been one of summer features in Tokyo.
This year total 156 Rens, which means group in Japanese dance in two days. I could enjoy seeing dances in various arrangements. My friends also danced in the event. Her dance was so wonderful.
